Nick Mehl Architecture offers a free consultation to prospective clients. During this first meeting, which lasts about 45 minutes, the prospective client presents the project parameters and intended budget and our office assesses how we may provide architectural services. Typically, if the prospective client is interested, a request is made for our office to draft a proposal and work commences soon after.
Proposal / Contract
The Proposal is a contractual document that illustrates the design problem and lists the architects' services and fees. Upon signing the Proposal the client pays a retainer (usually $700-$1000 depending on the size of the project), which is applied towards the first invoice.
Architects' fees can be a little confusing to some people. There are several ways to base fees; some architects use a percentage of construction cost, some charge an hourly rate and some a flat fee. In any case, the cost works out about the same. For information on our rates please call us at 512-473-8228.
Please realize upon hiring an architect you are paying for a service, a professional representing your interests, and not just a set of drawings. Most likely if you have gotten to the point of looking for an architect you have determined that hiring an architect is the best way to protect and capitalize on your investment and get a unique design.
